TN Visas (NAFTA)
In August 1992, the United States, Canada, and Mexico entered into the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which provides for expedited admission of business persons from each country.
The nonimmigrant NAFTA Professional (TN) visa allows citizens of Canada and Mexico, as NAFTA professionals, to work in the United States in prearranged business activities for U.S. or foreign employers. Permanent residents of Canada and Mexico are not able to apply for TN visas to work as NAFTA professionals. A list of qualifying professions is available here.
Working with Poarch Law on TN Visas
These visas increase the facility with which Canadian and Mexican nationals can work in the U.S., but require an experienced immigration attorney to properly screen for eligibility, ascertain whether another visa category is more appropriate, prepare the documentation for submission and the applicant for the entry interview.
